1971 Mustang History

The 1971 Ford Mustang sees a major facelift, including the wheel base stretching by one inch to 109". Also the body widens just short of two and a half inches and the length increases by more than two inches.

The hood is longer than ever and it angles up at the back edge to hide the wipers. The Mustang "Corral" is back for 1971 and the door handles are now recessed into the door panels. The rear window on the "SportsRoof" model has a steeper angle making it more aerodynamic and consequently harder to see through.

The triple taillights also get bigger and rounder and for the first time air conditioning is available. The interior is also changed and now sports a new three cluster instrument panel.
