1967 Camaro History

First generation Camaro
The 1967 Camaro is born to the delight of most of us muscle car enthusiasts.

From the very beginning the Camaro mesmerized us with its beautiful body lines and unsurpassed performance. Great optional trim packages were made available including the "SS", "RS", "RS/SS", and the "Z/28".

1967 Camaro SS (Super Sport)

Sporty domed hood with fake vents

295 bhp 350 cid (GM's introduction of the 350 cid engine), 325 bhp 396 cid or 375 bhp 396 cid engine choices

Heavy duty suspension

Larger D70-series tires

295 bhp 350 cid was the hottest engine available for the RS trim package

1967 Camaro RS/SS

The best of both trim options were available to make up the RS/SS

The 1967 Camaro RS/SS was such an impressive car, it was chosen that year as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 race.

It was dressed as a convertible, and under the hood lived a sweet 396 / 375 bhp engine

1967 Camaro Z/28

Powered with a high revving 302 cid engine, advertised at 290 horsepower (actual dyno reading showed closer to 400 bhp)

Suspension was beefed up for street/drag performance

Front power assist disc brakes

Convertible model was not available for the Z/28, but options from the RS trim package were
