1971 Camaro History
The 1971 Camaro looks essentially the same as last year.
Some noticeable changes:
The seats are all high-back with built-in headrests, replacing the low-back seats from the previous year
The 12 bolt rear end is discontinued, and the 10 bolt unit becomes standard on all Camaros
The rear spoiler is now a three-piece unit ABS plastic is used on the optional front spoiler (RPO D80)
GM lowers compression ratios and starts showing horsepower and torque in terms of NET and GROSS

Base engine is the L48, 350 cid 270 gross bhp - 210 net bhp
Optional engine is the LS3, 396 cid 300 gross bhp - 260-net bhp
Heavy duty suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, special shocks

No body style changes from previous year
