1962 Corvette History

1962 is the last year for the first generation Corvette body style. It is the first time seat belts are standard equipment. Rocker panel moldings were introduced for the first time. The 327 cid engine replaced the 283 cid engine.

Production for the year was 14,531, all convertibles.

Something worth looking at are a few well assembled pages by David Palmeter on the 1962 Le Mans race where a '62 Vette ran (#1 - Chassis 20867S110261). It shows quite a few original detailed pictures of the race car, as well as its history.
